What:  An international, nonprofit organization, founded in 1965, that  trains and provides opportunities for high school and college students to participate in service projects in Latin America.

Who:  High school and college students.  Former Amigos members can apply to be project staff.

Location: Honduras, Mexico, Paraguay, Brazil, Nicaragua, Dominican Republic, Panama, Costa Rica, and Uruguay.

Duration: Six to eight weeks in the summertime.  

Cost/Benefits: Programs cost $3,700 total (including airfare).  Fundraising is highly encouraged, and the Amigos site includes a guide with fundraising tips.
