What: A Quaker organization that "seeks to understand and address the root causes of poverty, injustice, and war."   They offer a range of internships and volunteer positions in the U.S. and abroad.   Work is in such areas as interning for AFSC's women program (to engage in projects that use feminist perspectives) to spending a summer in Mexico in a small indigenous community working on assigned projects.

Who: Depends on the program.  Some programs open to youth as young as 14, others reserved for college students or recent graduates.

Location: All over the U.S and worldwide.

Duration: Range from four week summer workcamps to full year commitments.

Cost/Benefits: Depends on the project; ranges from fellowships that are full-time, year long jobs paying $10 an hour, to programs that you have to pay  $2400 for (month-long China volunteer program)
